Online Blackjack Gambling Myths

While online Blackjack is a relatively simple game to play, there is a lot of skill involved in evolving from an average player to an excellent Blackjack gambler.

First you need to completely understand the rules of the game, and the Blackjack odds, then formulate a basic Blackjack strategy, next pick up some handy tips from famous professional Blackjack players and lastly be aware of online Blackjack gambling myths, so that you can avoid them.

In this article, we have highlighted some of the biggest Blackjack gambling myths or misconceptions. We recommend you read and remember them:

Myth - The objective of online Blackjack is to get 21 points, or as near to 21 points as possible without going over 21.
Truth - The objective of Blackjack is simply to beat whatever hand the dealer is holding.

Myth - I'm having a bad run so I'm bound to win soon.
Truth -? Even though you may have lost the last six hands in a row, don't expect the cards to automatically swing around in your favor.

Much like a winning streak, when it seems you can't lose, the same is true of a losing streak. Recognize it as such, and look forward to your next winning streak.

Myth - Take out insurance if the dealer has an Ace and you are holding a Blackjack or 20
Truth - This is probably the worst opportunity to take out insurance. The reason is simply that you are holding two of the very cards that the dealer needs to turn his hand into a Blackjack. In other words, in this situation, the odds are in your favor that you'll beat the dealer.

So ask yourself why make an insurance bet that you'll probably lose and actually don't need to make?

Myth - Never stand on 12 if the dealer is showing a 2 because the chances of busting by drawing a 10 are small.
Truth - Let the odds do the talking. The odds of busting when you hit a 12 are around 64%.

Myth - Stick when holding 15 (if not holding any 10 point cards)
Truth - This is a good hand to stand with only if the dealer is showing a card that is 6 or lower.

Should he be showing anything 6 or lower it is okay to stand with 15, but if the dealer holds anything higher you must take a card here.
